Uganda’s Cases of Coronavirus Hit 507 as 18 More People Test Positive

The Ministry of Health has announced that 18 more people have tested positive for coronavirus pushing the number of confirmed cases to 507.

Of the 18, 4 cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu, 2 cases are from Malaba, 12 cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases.

“12 cases from contacts and alerts; 8 are from Amuru, 3 are from Buikwe and 1 is from Kyotera districts.”

Additionally, 21 positive foreign truck drivers (13 Kenyans,3 Tanzanians,4 Eritreans and 1 Congolese)were handed to their country of origin.

82 people who previously tested positive have since recovered.

Although the number of coronavirus cases is increasing, the government has started easing the lockdown and other restrictions that were put in place to combat the spread of the deadly virus.

In his last address, the President said the lockdown had helped in slowing the spread and that it helped the government to plan better.
