President Museveni has for the second time warned landlords against evicting tenants from houses on account of not fulfilling their rent obligations.

The President issued his warning on Thursday while delivering the state of the nation address at State House Entebbe.

He said that there are ongoing discussions on finding a solution for those that have been affected greatly affected by the Covid19 pandemic.

Among the measures being discussed is providing liquidity to private firms that have been affected. Others are deferring payment of Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax by those sectors which are most affected until September 2020 and Support to water and electricity utilities in order to ensure the continued supply of these essential services to consumers during the period April to June 2020 et al.
