Uganda Registers Fifth COVID-19 Death

The Ministry of Health has confirmed one more death today bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 5.
The deceased is a 46-year-old female of Indian origin and resident of Kibuli. The deceased presented signs of COVID at Kibuli Muslim Hospital on August 1. The team at Kibuli referred her to Mulago Referral Hospital, but she died on the way there.
The deceased is said to have had a history of diabetes and asthma which she suffered for 10 years. The Ministry says she had gone off medication.
The Ministry is currently tracing her contacts.
Relatedly, samples taken from a suspected Covid-19 death turned out negative.
13 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed from samples tested on 2 August 2020. This brings the cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to 1,195
