Brig Byekwaso Takes Over as UPDF Spokesperson

Brig Flavia Byekwaso has on Friday taken over as the Uganda People’s Defense Forces spokesperson, a position previously occupied by Brig Richard Karemire.

Karemire was the spokesperson since 2017 until last week when he was replaced. He will now work as the Defense Liaison Officer at EAC.

Byekwaso, on the other hand, has been on of the UPDF MPs since 2016.

At the handover, Byekwaso promised to continue work with Karemire for guidance, among other things.

“I look forward to working closely with you for the common good of our country. The struggle continues,” she said.

The 39-year-old becomes the first ever female UPDF spokesperson.
