Vision Group Mobile App, a Simpler, More Personalised Way to Consume Digital Content

Publishing house Vision Group last week launched an interactive mobile App to enable users consume news and other content whenever and wherever they are with utmost convenience.

The app which is already available for download on Google Play store for android enabled devices and the Apple Store for iOS is targeted at accelerating the company’s Digital Transformation journey to match the rapidly changing behavior of consumers.

According to Paul Ikanza, the mobile app will be an interface between print and digital readers with a hope to get print readers to cross to the digital side.

“It is an evolving journey and we are going to keep going. We are going to keep improving the product. We would like to have a big footprint on the digital space. We have brought a product that will help us engage with you better so that we may have more relevancy in terms of your consumption,” Ikanza said.

The app currently takes care of readers of all Vision Group papers but Mr. Ikanza promised that they would add features for radio and TV.

“The latest feature to be added on the app is radio streaming for Bukedde and Xfm. We shall be releasing streaming for TV in a very short run. We are working on a number of features.”

User behavior is changing and the way people consume content has also changed due to growing access to the internet and need for convenience driven by mobility and smart devices which are now widespread across the country.

And with the changes, people have changed the way they would like to consume news. Simplicity, convenience, personalization are critical attributes for the way the modern consumers relate to experiences.

With the Vision Group mobile app, a user is able to personalize their content needs, pick categories they prefer, follow journalists and get notifications as soon as they publish a new story and chat with the editorial team in real time.

Is access to information free of charge?

There is no charge for accessing the content on the application right now. The app is available for free download and free access.

“This is much more than a content play so we hope to have different strategies but for now we encourage Ugandans and Africans to access the most engaging and simplistic contect experience out there,” Vision Group offiials said a the launch.

“Our aspiration for starters is to create the most personalized, engaging, dynamic and simplistic experience in Africa. Our immediate focus is on allowing you to access and engage with the content wherever you are.”
