Police in Karamoja is hunting down a group of thugs who shot and killed a traffic officer in an ambush at Nakapiripirit District over the weekend.

The slain officer has been identified as Fahad Talyaura who was attacked as he travelled to Moroto Regional Referral Hospital with his expectant wife Jackline Nandigobye

According to Moroto Regional Police Commander Gerald Twishime, officer Talyaura was injured by the assailants while riding his motorbike but he continued riding.

“He was shot at close range and the bullet penetrated through his thigh and went to the abdomen. He continued riding the motorcycle up to Lokali bridge where he became weak and started making phone calls.”

“We rushed to the scene and found both of them bleeding. Talyaura does on the way to Matany hospital after failing to get a scanning machine in Moroto Hospital.”
