Airtel Uganda has been spreading the festive season cheer with bounty visits carious charity organisations under their annual 12 Days of Christmas program.
For the 5th year running, Airtel Uganda staff go out to meet and touch the lives of people of 12 selected projects that are spread all over the country.
Today the campaign came to an end with Airtel Uganda reaching out to aid Raising Hope International, Namuwongo, an organization that caters for children with Sickle Cells.
“We recognize that the year has been very difficult on a lot of people especially because of the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that saw sources of income greatly affected and others unable to receive timely support due to the restriction in movement and the strict but necessary SOPs,” said Manoj Murali, the Airtel Uganda Managing Director.
“This year, we targeted projects that in spite of the effects of Covid-19 have weathered the thick and thin to continue creating a positive impact on communities and the beneficiaries they serve,” he added.
Some beneficiaries include organisations that are supporting children with multiple disabilities and children with Sickle Cell disease, organisations helping teenage pregnant mothers that have been disowned by their families, youth programs that have kept the young people engaged during the lock down, bodaboda associations, orphanages, women empowerment groups and many others.
The donations include; food items, reflector jackets, beddings and medicines, as per the discretion of the benefiting organising.
“It is the Season to spread love. We feel extremely delighted to spread some joy and happiness to the less privileged in our communities. At Airtel, we believe in making a difference in the daily lives of Ugandans,” Airtel Uganda Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Mrs. Charity Bukenya said.
