Opposition Forum for Democratic Change – FDC presidential flag bearer Patrick Amuriat Oboi has Sunday been arrested on his campaign trail in Jinja, Eastern Uganda.
Amuriat was arrested for flouting Electoral Commission directives which suspended campaigns in 20 areas including Jinja due to sprouting cases of Covid19.
“Our Presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat has been arrested in Jinja. Details to follo,” FDC posted on their social media.
Earlier in the day, despite the warning and directive by the Electoral Commission announced that their programme would remain unchanged.
Amuriat is expected to campaign in Tororo, one of the places that have been suspended and will head to Luweero on 2nd January 2020.
