Senior Presidential Press Secretary and seasoned journalist Don Wanyama has been confirmed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vision Group.
This was confirmed on Tuesday morning by Patrick Ayota, the Chairperson Vision Group Board.
Wanyama takes over from Robert Kabushenga who took an early retirement in February 2021 and has been serving the Group for a transitional 3 months.
Earlier, media reports had indicated that Wanyama’s appointment was sanctioned by President Museveni over other candidates including New Vision Chief Editor Barbra Kaija, Next Radio general manager Marcus Kwikiriza, Red Pepper’s Rugyendo Arinaitwe, former Deputy General of the External Security Organisation (ESO) Emmanuel Ewaku Allio among many others.
His appointment was pending endorsement and announcement by the Vision Group board which was done on Tuesday morning.
Prior to this announcement, Wanyama has been serving as the Senior Presidential Secretary, a position he has held since May 2016.
He had previously served as the Communications Assiatant in the office of the ruling National Resistance Movement and the Managing Editor of Daily Monitor News Paper before that.
