South Sudan: SPLM Deputy Information Secretary Deng Mading Dies

An SPLM deputy secretary for information has succumbed to coronavirus after battling the disease for more than a week in the capital Juba.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj this morning, the late’s elder son Mading Deng said Deng Mading Mijak died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Juba. 

 “My father was tested positive for Coronavirus when he wanted to travel to Khartoum. So when he was tested positive for Covid-19, he could not travel,” Deng said.

He added, “My father’s health condition worsened at home. So yesterday he had to be rushed to hospital where he lost his life.”

Deng Mading, a prominent member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) led by President Salva Kiir, hailed from the Abyei area.
