Kaweesi Murder: Four More Suspects Released on Bail

Four more suspects in the murder of former police Spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi have on Thursday morning been released on bail by Nakawa Grade One Magistrate, Noah Sajjabi.

The suspects through their lawyers led by Geoffrey Turyamusiima applied for bail on grounds that it was their right, having spent more than six months on remand. No prosecutors were present in court to object the bail.

“They (the suspects) have spent more than six months on remand and they have never been committed to High Court for trial,” said Noah Sajjabi while giving his ruling on Thursday.

The suspects released on bail are; Asuman Mugoya, Swaleh Damulira, Fiswali Hibwenge and Sauda Ayub.

They were each released on a Shs 50 million non-cash bail, while their sureties was ordered to sign a Shs. 50 million non-cash bond each.

This comes two weeks after Sajjabi granted bail to 7 suspects in the same murder. Four of the seven (Ahmed Ssenfuka, Ibrahim Kisa, Abdul Majid Ojegere and Umaru Maganda) were however re-arrested by men in plain clothes shortly after court had granted them bail.

Kaweesi, his driver Wambewo and body guard, Kenneth Erau were gunned down by unknown assailants in Kulambiro, Kampala in March this year.
