Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV has appealed to educationists in the country to lay a lot of emphasis on sports development and extend more bursaries to the underprivileged but brighter students.
Addressing both students and the staff of Sun Moon University on Saturday at the main campus in Asan-si, Chung Nam, South Korea the Kyabazinga emphasized the need for promotion of co-curricular activities.
“Am impressed with what I have seen here today during the guided tour and indeed the founders of this university had a vision for promoting Education.On a special note I want to lay emphasis on the need to offer holistic education more so with emphasis on co-curricular activities given the different facilities that you have.This will help in promoting the University besides the academic bit,” he said, adding that extending more bursaries to needy but brighter students will be an added advantage.
“I thank you for sponsoring some of the students that am seeing here today as revealed by Prof. Emmanuel ADU. As you all know, many learners are gifted more so in academics but sometimes are limited in one way or the other. So I implore the management of the University to consider extending more bursaries to the under privileged but brighter students,” the Kyabazinga emphasized.
The Kyabazinga, who watched some of the ongoing Winter Olympic games at Pyeong Chang, South Korea also visited the Sun Moon University main Library and Museum.
On his part, Hwang Sun-jo, President of Sun Moon University noted the Kyabazinga’s concerns and agreed to ask management for a serious consideration.
“We take with great concern the King’s concerns and as management, we shall take a final stand on it”, the President said.
Established in 1972 by Rev. and Dr. Moon, the University is ranked 26th out of the 200 officially recognized Universities in Korea with a student enrollment of close 20,000.
