Police is investigating circumstances under which a 13-year-old boy was found dead at Mestil Hotel in Nsambya, Kampala.

The boy whose identity is unknown reportedly drowned in the swimming pool on Sunday.

According to local television NTV, the deceased’s body was picked from the pool by the police after a concerned parent placed a call to them.

“Police rushed to the scene following a call from a concerned parent last evening but unfortunately we could not rescue him alive,” NTV quotes Kampala Metropolitaan Police spokesperson Luke Oweyesigyire as having said.

Owoyesigire further revealed that the Hotel Manager had been detained at Kabalagala police station as investigations continue.
