Five children belonging to a businessman of Kahompo village, Bufunjo subcounty, Kyenjojo district were Wednesday night killed by unknown thugs in their home.

The five; Atuhairwe Barbra (7 years), Alinganiza Osca (4 years), Ayinebyona Linet (3 years), Tulinomugisha Devis (2 years) and Abwooli (1 month old) are all children of Tumwebaze Joseph, a businessman and resident of Kahompo village, Bufunjo sub-county in Kyenjojo District.

According Regional Police Spokesperson Rwenzori West, ASP Lydia Tumushabe, the incident happened on Wednesday night at about 0100/c.

“The unknown thugs broke the door glasses and gained access house, locked one Akampulira Gerald a relative into his room and they entered Tumwebaze’s room where they found his wife, and they asked for the whereabouts of the husband and money. But Tumwebaze was not in the house he had gone to Kasese,”  ASP Lydia Tumushabe .

“They cut and killed the children, beat up the wife and took and dumped her in Kawompo river from where she was rescued and is currently undergoing treatment,” she added.

The Kyenjojo District CID Officer and team are at currently at the scene of crime and investigations are ongoing.
