TECNO Spark 3 Review: The Three Features that will Blow Your Mind

Since the launch of the Tecno Spark 3 on Monday May 6th, the buzz that made rounds about the developments and improvements in the device couldn’t keep me settled.

Being the gadget enthusiast that I am, I was curious to get a hold of the successor of the Tecno Spark 2 which was a big time seller in Uganda and I finally did.

Over the past few days, I have been using the Tecno Spark 3 which I received from Tecno Mobile Uganda for my review piece and despite a few flaws, I find the device utterly interesting considering its retail price.

In this review, I decided to concentrate on three areas which are of major interest to Ugandans; at least according to conversations on Facebook and Twitter.

The three areas include display and build, Performance and the device’s camera.

Display and build

The Spark 3 has a 6.2-inch notched display screen with highly reduced upper and lower bezels. It comes with IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1500*720 pi.

Personally, I am irked by big phones but if you are the kind that is into big screens, this is the device for you.

Watching movies and other videos on phone is seamless as the display is clear and the screen wide enough.

Mobile gamers will also appreciate the Spark 3 due to the experience they will get from its 6.2’ screen.

Performance

Like I have always said about phones with RAM in the range of 1GB to 2GB, you will get the best experience if you download lite versions of apps.

But unlike the other smartphones in the same price range as the Spark 3, you will get a good experience and better performance even when using the normal versions of apps.

About the memory, the Spark 3 variants have either 1GB or 2GB RAM coupled with 16GB of storage. All of my review period, I used the one with 2GB RAM.

Cameras

The SPARK 3 camera comes equipped with AI technologies and high configuration for brighter photos that results in high quality, bright and smooth pictures.

On the rear, we have a dual 13MP + 2MP setup for depth effects, Portrait modes, AI HDR and “AI” beauty modes. Tecno boasts clearer, cleaner images.

For the Selfies, the Spark 3 has an 8MP shooter on the front alongside a front-facing flash. You have the option of face unlock with the front cameras.

Other features

On the Software end, the Spark 3 ships with Android 9 Pie which is, of course, a welcome development.

Battery life is rated 3,500mAh and it ships with a regular, Micro USB charger.
