Huawei Postpones Launch of Mate X Foldable Smartphone Again

Huawei has delayed the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the Mate X again.

Unveiled in February, the phone was expected to go on sale mid-year and then in September, but has now been pushed back to later in the year.

No reason was given for the delay.

This could give Samsung the first-mover advantage in the foldable segment. After earlier technical problems, the Korean market leader plans to put the Samsung Galaxy Fold on the market in September.

According to the report, Huawei “is certain the Mate X will launch before the end of 2019”. This is likely to be November, so the company can profit from year-end holiday sales.
