Joshua Cheptegei Wins Men’s 10000M at IAAF World Championships

Ugandan athlete Joshua Cheptegei on Sunday evening won the men’s 10000m race at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar

With a finish time of 26:46.37, Cheptegei came first in the race and won a gold medal. This is the second-fastest time in World Championships history.

Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha won silver after finishing second in 26:49.34, while Kenya’s Rhonex Kipruto, 19, took bronze afetr coming third with a finish time of 26:50.32.

Joshua Cheptegei’s victory comes less than two months after he won the men’s 5000m race at the IAAF Diamond League held in Zurich, Switzerland on August 29th 2019.

Cheptegi joins Ugandan female athlete Halimah Nakaayi who also won gold after finishing first in the women’s 800m race at the IAAF World Championships recently.
