The Uganda People’s Defense Forces has arrested a police commander who commanded the raids on Makerere University. 

According to the army spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire, Capt. Richard Lubeere has been arrested and detained at Makindye military police headquarters as investigations into the matter start.

Karemire says a board of inquiry has been put in place to follow up on the matter.

During the fracas at Makerere University recently, the police raided university halls and brutally arrested students. Many were injured during the process.

The President and many other people and organizations have condemned the brutality.
