President Museveni is scheduled to honor NRA fighters who showed acts of patriotism in the pursuit for freedom of this county.
The President will walk 100km from Galamba in Wakiso district to Birembo on Kibaale district.
According to a statement from the Presidential Press Secretary Don Wanyama the trek which should be on foot, and is intended to remind the elderly and also to sensitize the younger people, including the Bazukulu, the heroic exertions of the freedom fighters who were doing for no pay, no reward – just for patriotism.
The trek is dubbed “Africa Kwetu” and will start on January 6 until January 9.
Participants will only cover between 15-20 miles per day. The walks will be succeeded by bonfire sessions where the President will address people about the liberation journey.
The President participated in a similar walk in 1999.
After the walk, the President will launch the construction of historic NRA Museum at Kanyara in Nakaseke district.
