dfcu Bank has started moving out of buildings owned by Meera Investment Limited (MIL). The bank has been holding offices in many properties owned by MIL since 2017 when the bank took over Crane Bank. Legal battles have been ongoing between dfcu and Meera over the stay of the bank in the latter’s properties. Meera Investments sued the bank over unpaid rent totalling to billions of shillings.
On Saturday, dfcu workers were seen moving office chairs and other equipment from the Plot 40 Kampala branch which previously served as the main branch for Crane Bank. dfcu said it had only moved to the next building, and asked customers to be patient with them as they move.
The bank is said to have hired a consultant to help with the relocation process.
