Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has Thursday evening been arrested by a joint team of the military and police, this website has learnt.
A source who preferred anonymity revealed to this website that the former Security Minister was surrounded and picked up at his office located along Impala Avenue, Kololo in Kampala at around 7:30PM.
“He was picked up by the army and the police. The team was headed by the CID Director Grace Akullo,” the source said.
Before his arrest, Gen Tumukunde revealed via Facebook that he had been surrounded at his Kololo office.
“Comrades, I have been surrounded by army officers at my private office in Kololo,” Tumukunde wrote
“I have been arrested. This will not stop our resolve,” he added in another post.
Tumukunde’s arrest comes a few days after he declared that he would stand for president in the 2021 Polls.
This website understands that he was arrested for treason.
