Gen Tumukunde Remanded to Luzira Prison

Lt. Gen Henry Tumukunde has Wednesday been remanded to Luzira Prison over charges of Treason.

Tumukunde was produced at the City Hall Court under tight security where he was read charges of treason and unlawful possession of firearms by magistrate Valerian Tuhimbise.

Tuhimbise ruled that Tumukunde would be allowed to access medical attention while on remand. He is started complaining of poor health days after his arrest. He was admitted at Kololo Hospital in Kampala where he has been receiving treatment.

Tumukunde pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. Court, however, advised him not to plead to the treason charge as it is a capital offence only triable by the High Court.

He will return to court in March 30 for mention.
