American rapper and songwriter Rick Ross is set to make a trip to Uganda after the Covid19 disease has been wiped out. Although a date has not been set yet, adverts have started running.
“Following government of Uganda’s health regulations, CTI AFRICA brings a Post COVID-19 event dubbed the Uganda Benefit Concert featuring Rick Ross of MayBach Music Group; a concert to support health workers in Kampala Uganda,” reads a statement by the organisers of the show.
“The Uganda Benefit Concert is designed to celebrate and re-ignite the Ugandan Spirit, the culture and most importantly to share hope” – David Mihigo, Head of Marketing and Partnerships CTI AFRICA, the main promoter.
“As an appreciation to health workers for their hard work, perseverance and sacrifices that they made to ensure the wellbeing of each citizen across the country, the Uganda Benefit Concert aims to appreciate and celebrate them while giving them support to do more. The concert will also have a lineup of several Ugandan and African artists.”
Rick Ross is a rapper and entrepreneur who was the first artist signed to P. Diddy’s Ciroc Entertainment. He founded his own music label, Maybach Music Group, in 2009. Rick Ross is a five-time Grammy Award Nominee and his Gold Rose song featuring Drake was nominated as Best Hip Hop song in the 2020 Grammy Awards.
The concert is anticipated to be one of the most memorable concerts to date. The concert is jointly produced by Uganda’s top promoters Swangz Avenue, Talent Africa and Malembe.
“After everything Uganda and the rest of the world has battled for the past couple of months, we thought what better way could there be to remind us that we are stronger together.” Julius Kyazze, Swangz Avenue. He goes on to add that those in attendance should expect an evening of great entertainment.
“Health workers are the biggest contributors as to why we are able to be here, we thought it’s about time that they got recognized for their sacrifice. Because not everyone can do what they do” Keith Ashaba, Malembe.
“As we all know, music is the strongest form of magic. We’ve come together to create this event as a way of expressing how much health care workers mean to us as a country. The fight against COVID-19 is still on, but we want to encourage the health workers to fight on and definitely the victory calls for one of the biggest celebrations in Uganda. The event is going to be one of a kind” Aly Allibhai Talent Africa Group
In a video message, Rick Ross confirmed that he is coming to Uganda and that he is coming to make history.
