The Inspector General of Police – IGP Martin Okoth Ochola has ordered for apost-mortem check to establish the cause of the untimely death of his deputy Maj Gen Paul Lokech.
Ochola reavealed this in a social media post made on Saturday morning after learning about Lokech’s death.
“With deep sorrow, I regret to announce the sudden death of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Major General Paul Lokech. I have tasked the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Moses Byaruhanga to carry out postmortem to establish the cause of death,” he tweeted.
Maj Gen Lokech died on Saturday morning.
The Tower Post has learned from a close family member that the Lion of Mogadishu died from a blood clot.
The family member further revealed that the no-nonsense soldier had undergone a minor surgery but was recovering well.
Lokech becomes a second UPDF General to die in a space of less than a week following the death of Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa who died in India on Tuesday.
