Works Ministry Resumes Asphalt Laying at Katonga Bridge on Kampala-Masaka Highway

The Ministry of Works and Transport has begun asphalt-laying works at the Katonga Bridge section of the Kampala-Masaka Highway.

The maintenance works, which resume today, are expected to last three days.

During this period, traffic will be restricted to a half-width carriageway, leading to reduced road space and likely delays for motorists.

The Ministry has urged drivers to plan their journeys accordingly, strictly follow instructions from traffic police and site marshals, and avoid dangerous overtaking to prevent further congestion and ensure safety.

Motorists have been advised to use the alternative route via Mpigi-Kanoni-Gomba-Ssembabule to minimise delays.

The Ministry has directed the contractor to maintain proper traffic control measures throughout the duration of the works.

The temporary disruption is part of ongoing efforts to improve road conditions on the key highway.
