Singer Big Eye to Fellow Artists: Stop Being Jealous of Diamond Platnumz

Singer Ibrahim Mayanja aka Big Eye Starboss has urged his fellow Ugandan artistes to “stop being envious” of Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz and “instead work hard to be like him”.

Several Ugandan artistes and other players in the entertainment industry had earlier come out to criticize Kampala Capital City Authority’s move to hire Diamond to perform at the Kampala City Festival that took place on Friday (October 6) before the main event on Sunday (October 8).

According to concert budget that this wrbsite saw, Diamond was paid Shs 165 Million and only Shs 20 million was was given to all Ugandan artistes that performed at the concert, something many considered unfair.

Luga-flow rapper Gravity Omutujju during his performance at the concert, even blasted the organizers for bringing a foreign artiste to headline the event.

“Why bring an artiste that cannot even fill this venue?” Gravity wondered.

However Big Eye says Ugandan artistes need to work hard and be paid highly when they perform in other countries.

“Self pity will not help us in anyway. Let’s work hard instead, put out good music that will receive massive airplay in other countries,” Big Eye said.

“Its not Diamond’s fault, he was simply contacted because he has established himself as a big brand and has good music. We should accept that,” he added.

Big Eye also went on to challenge fellow artistes, saying, “make a hit song that will be loved in Tanzania and see if Tanzanians will not call you for shows”.

Big Eye was speaking in a video recording which he shared on Social Media.
