Police Shoots Dead Two Suspected Terrorists, Magara Murder Suspect Arrested

Police and sister security agencies on Saturday morning shot dead two suspected terrorists and arrested 36 others at Usafi Mosque in Kisenyi and other locations in and around Kampala.

A security officer was severely injured.

Among the arrested suspects is an individual linked to the death of Suzan Magara, who was kidnapped and later killed in February this year. Police said they would not reveal his name because investigations were still ongoing.

In the joint security operation, Police also rescued 18 women and 94 children who had allegedly been kidnapped by the suspect.

The operation according to Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima came following leads as they “continue to investigate the incidents of crime that have occurred especially in the areas of Greater Masaka and Kampala”.

Kayima said the suspects were found with a number of weapons including 60 rounds of 7.62MM ammunition, 1 bow and arrows, 23 double edged pangas and one laptop.

He added that Police making preparations to handover the rescued women and children.

“In the meantime, the Child and Family Protection Unit of the Police will take care of them,” he said.
