Rev Bukomeko Takes Kazimba’s Seat as Mityana Bishop

Rev Dr James Bukomeko has been elected the 5th Bishop of Mityana Diocese, to take the place of the Rt Rev Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu. The seat of Mityana Bishop fell vacant after Kazimba was elected Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.

Bukomeko was elected by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda which convened at Namirembe Guest House on November 7.

The new Bishop of Mityana Diocese will be consecrated and enthroned as Bishop on February 2, 2020, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral l in Namukozi in Mityana municipality.

Who is Rev Bukomeko?

Bukomeko, 51, holds a Masters Degree in Divinity which he attained from the Uganda Christina University. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Uganda Management Institute, and a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma in Education from Nkumba University. He has an Executive Certificate from Hertfordshire University.

He was born in Luwero within a family of 12 children.

Bukomeko was ordained a deacon and a priest in 1994.
