MP Kafuuzi’s Ministerial Appointment Halted

On Friday, the Parliament’s Appointments Committee approved all candidates who appeared before the panel, but one person, Jackson Kafuuzi, the Kyaka South MP.

Kafuuzi was appointed by President Museveni to take the seat of Deputy Attorney General (AG) stepping in the footsteps of Mwesigwa Rukutana who is now the State Minister for Labour.

Kafuuzi’s appointment was halted temporarily on account that there is no weight to support his record as a successful High Court advocate.

Journalists were not allowed in the meeting, but according to reports, Kafuuzi failed to convince parliament that he is the right person for the job

It is also reported that there might have been loopholes in his academic credentials.

The committee is said to have directed the Clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige, to write to the High Court to provide record as an advocate of the deputy AG designate.

Robinah Nabbanja, appointment as  Minister of State for Health was also halted over lack of credentials.
