EC Speaks Out on Bobi’s Blocked Consultations

The Electoral Commission (EC) has spoken out on Bobi Wine’s blocked consultative meetings saying that it cleared the presidential hopeful to go ahead with the meetings and that it is not aware of the woes he is going through with police.

EC spokesperson Jotham Taremwa revealed this on Tuesday morning during a political show on NBS.

Taremwa said the role of EC was to guide Bobi on what to do during the consultation, and now they don’t know how best to help him.

He advised Bobi to collaborate with the police

“Being an aspirant does not place you above the normal. My view is, if you are an aspirant, sit with the police. When the EC okays you, it does not mean you overlook certain laws,” Taremwa said.

Bobi’s had planned to resume his consultations on February 24, 2020, but was stopped by the police on account that he did not fulfil the requirements.
