Nansana Shooting: Police Retrieve CCTV Footage

Police task team from Kawempe Regional Police have retrieved CCTV footage about the shooting of Daniel Kyeyune who was shot dead in Nansana last week.

Reports suggested that he had been shot by a local defense officer, a claim that was denied by Maj. Bilal Katamba, who speaks for the Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) First Division.

Kyeyune was among a group of supporters who had gathered along the streets in Nansana trading centre to wave at Bobi Wine. The People Power leader was returning from Kiboga where they had gone for the funeral of Ritah Nabukenya, a People Power fanatic who died in an accident.

According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, they have retrieved two sets of footage.

“There is another footage that they are trying to source from the area based on our private sources. This morning they gave me a brief that chances were high they would get that footage. It clearly indicated who shot Dan Kyeyune and under what circumstances,” he noted.

The footage he says shows clearly how Kyeyune died.
