President Museveni Gives Up Part of His Salary to Fight Covid19

President Museveni has pledged to donate half of his salary to the Covid-fund to help fight the respiratory disease.

Museveni made the pledge during his address after a caller asked why civil servants have not had their salaries cut.

The President responded by saying it was a good idea. And that he was giving up half of his salary. “You people pay me some little money. I get 3.6m as salary. NRM takes 20% of that. I will ask Janet Museveni to deduct shs1.4M each month and donate to the task force. She is the one who receives that money.”

The President also called upon other civil servants to donate from their salaries voluntarily.

“Civil servants and political leaders, you have all heard, now people are asking you, they hear people are cutting salaries, what about you?”
