President Yoweri Museveni, also Commander in Chief of armed forces has promoted 1384 UPDF officers and militants to different ranks.

According to Brigadier Richard Karemire, the UPDF spokesperson, President Museveni approved the promotions “on recommendation of the Commissions Board on 3rd March 2018”.

Among the senior officers promoted is senior presidential advisor Brig. Kasirye Gwanga to the rank of Maj. General. Kasirye Gwanga is also set to retire this year (2018).

Others include Brig Rwabantu to Maj Gen (Deputy General officer Commanding Reserves), Col Charles Wacha to Brig (Director Human Rights ), Col Charles Byanyima to Brig (Commander Motorized Infantry Brigade), Col Henry Isoke to Brig (Deputy CMI), Col James Nambale to Brig (Adjutant General Headquarters ) and Col Kagoro Asingura to Brig (Ministry of Defence & Veteran Affairs Legal Officer).
