Opposition chief and former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has visited Kira Divisional police headquarters where Makerere University research fellow Dr Stella Nyanzi is being detained over 48 hours since she was arrested.
Alongside Besigye were former leader of opposition in Parliament Philip Wafula Oguttu, Kampala mayor Erias Lukwago, Buhweju MP Francis Mwijukye and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party secretary for mobilisation Ingrid Turinawe.
But they were denied access by DPC Richard Asiimwe who told them to wait until 2pm or
get information about from Uganda Police spokesperson.
Dr Nyanzi was last Friday arrested at Mackinnon Suites Hotel in Kampala after attending a public lecture organised by the Rotary Club of Kampala Metropolitan.
At the event where participants were asked to donate sanitary pads, Dr Nyanzi had discussed the topic: Menstruation, Girl Education and Development: The Sustainability question.
Nyanzi is yet to be arraigned in court.
