The Uganda National Roads Authority UNRA has Monday afternoon confirmed six cases of Covid19 among their staff members.
The news was confirmed by UNRA officials in a statement released on Monday afternoon.
Of the six, the statement says, five are from the UNRA Headquarters at the Nakawa Business park while one was confirmed at the Masindo Station Office.
“The confirmed cases are from the 494 samples taken on 19th and 20th August for which results for 222 samples have been received,” the statement reads.
Upon confirmation of the cases, the statement says that the Authority’s management together with the Ministry of Health have rolled out “respective incident management protocols and the much needed health support system including psychological services to our affected members of staff who are currently under medical care.”
UNRA is not the first government Agency to get positive Covid 19 cases as 14 have so far been confirmed at government owned publishing company Vision Group and several others at the Uganda Police.
Police Chief Political Commisar Asan Kasingye is one of the Police officers who have tested positive for the pandemic and has since gone into self isolation
As a result, Police headquarters in Naguru have been closed down to allow the force to decontaminate the facility, fumigate and test all their staffers
UNRA is yet to announce the next steps to be taken to curb further spread of the disease which is penetrating Kampala at a very fast rate.
