Uganda’s Stephen Kiprotich on Sunday morning (April 23), won silver at the 2017 Haspa Hamburg International Marathon held in Germany.
The Olympic gold medalist put up a great performance despite the difficult weather conditions with wind and rain, and came second after finishing at 2:07:31.
Ethiopia’s Tsegaye Mekonnen, who finished at 2:07:26, won the marathon and took home a Gold medal.
Kenya’s Jacob Kendagor, Robert Chemosin and Japhet Kosgei came third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Besides winning gold, Ethiopia’s Tsegaye Mekonnen got a cash prize of 25,000 Euros (about Shs 98 million), while Stephen Kiprotich took home 15,000 Euros (about Shs 58 million).
