Rwanda: Seed of Hope Festival Returns in Musanze

The Seed of Hope Festival began in 2013 with the aim of celebrating the planting season, it’s returning for the fifth year to its beautiful location at the Red Rocks Intercultural Centre in Nyakinama village, Musanze district.

Organizers said that food, music and good times will feature in abundance at this year’s three-day festival, which will run from March 24-26 from 12pm to 7pm every day. And while local food has always been a key element of the Seed of Hope Festival, this year organisers are upping the game by throwing into the mix other activities such as preparing and tasting local dishes.

“We all have the ability to sow seeds of love, health and justice through our own daily actions and decisions,” said Greg Bakunzi, the founder of Red Rocks Intercultural Centre.

As social enterprise, Red Rocks is home to several community projects that not only provide training in sustainable organic farming but also help create income generating activities for economic purposes in Musanze district. During this year’s event, festival-goers can purchase freshly-harvested produce as a way of supporting these projects.

Nestled just seven kilometres west of Musanze town, the Red Rocks Intercultural Centre boasts stunning views of the surrounding hills, making it a breath of fresh air away from the hullabaloo of everyday life.
