Man in Bushenyi Kills Son for Eating Bread without Permission

Nelson Asiimwe, a resident of Kisibo cell, Bumbaire parish, Bumbaire Sub-county in Bushenyi district is being held by police for reportedly strangling his son for eating bread without his (father’s) permission.

Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson Martial Tumusiime has confirmed that Mark Asiimwe (son to Nelson Asiimwe) was killed by his father on Wednesday.

Tumusiime told reporters that Asiimwe, who recently divorced his wife, accused his son of eating the piece of bread he (the father) had kept for his breakfast.

“He bought bread for the family and went away leaving his three children at home. According to his children, he came when they were sleeping and started beating the deceased son before strangling him for finishing up the bread he had bought,” Tumusiime narrated to reporters

But Asiimwe (the deceased’s father) said he had caned his son for defecating in the house but was shocked by his son’s death the following day.

“I came home and found that Mark had defecated in the house. I decided to cane him as a way of disciplining him.

“In the morning he couldn’t wake up to go to school. When I went to check on him, he was dead.”

Police say that Asiimwe will be arraigned in court to answer murder charges once investigations are complete.
