Infinix Note 6 Review: Elegant Display, Strong Battery at a Budget Price

Just a year from the launch of the Note 5, Infinix Mobility has made tremendous improvements in both physical looks and internal features to bring elegance and style to the new flagship device in the Note series, the Note 6.

The device was launched on the Ugandan market on Monday July 8th, exciting mobile phone lovers and sparking conversations online about what the device offers.

I was lucky to be among the first people to get a hold of the phone and have had a chance to explore what it offers and how different it is from its predecessor.

If you never had a chance to use a Note 5, its fine. You will better off even, starting with the Note 6.

Physical appearance.

This might be becoming a song in all my phone reviews; I am not into big phones and if I were the one making the choice, I would chuck this Note 6 right away.

But having done surveys, I know a bigger percentage of the populace prefers their phones with bigger screens seeing as phones are now taking over roles of laptops and other computers.

And it’s without a doubt that assure you, you will fall in love with the Note 6 if you are into big screen with good display.

It presents a 6-inch screen with Amoled display, 1080*2160 resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Like its predecessor, the Note 6’s body is well designed with Antenna bands which are common in iPhone.

Camera

Like the Note 5, the Infinix Note 6 has a 16MP selfie camera and a flash.

The selfie camera produces bright images under better lighting but the pictures are blurry when taken under conditions of very low light.

The Note 6 camera has a very big deviation from a Note 5 when it comes to the rear camera.

The former had a single rear camera but the latter has been improved to now 3 rear cameras.

The device has a 16MP primary camera, an 8MP wide angle lens, a 2MP camera for depth sensing and a dual flash just adjacent to the lenses.

The rear camera will give you sharp images both under conditions of low light and enough lighting.

Under low lighting, try to always shoot at close range, then, you will get better images that those even taken during bright day light.

I compared the camera with the Note 5 stylus, you will also realize that there is a difference in quality and skin toning for the selfie camera.

Display

There is also a huge difference the display of the Note 6 because of the Amoled display which produces punchy and accurate colors, not too contrast which is good for media viewing.

If you are the kind that watches videos and movies on your phone, this is your go-to device.

The Note 6’s screen is bright outside and is very responsive to typing, both using the X-pen and hands.

The Note 6 has the same x-pen as the Note 5, same size and looks with a single button for drawing out the menu. Pulling out the x-pen from the note 6 also brings out the menu of the pen.

Memory and OS

The Note 6 has 4GB RAM and 64Gb of storage. You get about 54GB available for your use. The rest of the space is occupied by system files.

It comes pre-installed with Android 9 pie and XOS Cheetah verson 3.6.51. Android pie is latest Android version.

What makes the Note 6 stand out?

Taking a look at the quick settings and the launcher of the Note 6, you can quickly tell that the Note 6 is not part of the Android One Program.

Android One is a near-stock version of the Android operating system released by Google. It cannot be altered by the companies that make the phones, and only runs on certain smartphones.

You will also notice on the quick settings that the Note 6 has an option of the Dirac sound mode. Dirac technology widens phone speaker optimization to produce premium audio.

This should automatically tell you that the Note 6 comes with Dirac speakers which its predecessor never had.

Moving to the Display settings, you will also notice a difference with a number of Always On display options to choose from.

This works better especially knowing that the device has Amoled Display, which makes sure that Battery is not quickly spent while keeping each pixel of the screen crisp and lit.

Battery and Performance

About the device’s performance, the Infinix Note 6 uses the Helio P35 Octa core CPU of 2.3GHz speed.

Unlocking with a finger print takes just a tap, making it one of the fast responding phones although not the fastest as per se.

Also to note is that the device has a face unlock feature which is very fast.

The Note 6 battery supports fast charging and it also has a fast charger included in the box that houses it.

The fast charger can take the battery from 0 to 70% within an hour or less and battery, if used under normal circumstances can last at least 2 days.

The infinix Note 6 is one of those devices with a Stylus and such exciting features and yet sells at less than Shs 1,000,000.

You can get this device at a retail price of 750,000/=
