Shock as Makerere Medical Student Commits Suicide

Shock engulfed Makerere University on Sunday September 29th after a medical student ended his life over accumulated debts.

Ashraf Nsubuga, 22, a government-sponsored fourth year student of medical radiology was discovered dead in his room in Nsibirwa Hall.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, Nsubuga’s body was found hanging on a rope tied to the door.

Owoyesigire said that the reason for his suicide remains unknown and that Police has already launched investigations into the issue.

Fellow students however say that the late had accumulated debts totaling up to 18 million and that he was heavily addicted to gambling.

The Tower Post however cannot independently verify these claims.
