Coronavirus Cases in Uganda Shoot to 203 as 43 Truck Drivers Test Positive

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Uganda has now reached 203, the Ministry of Health has announced.

In a tweet last night, the Ministry said 43 truck drivers had tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, the highest number of infections the nation has recorded in just a single day.

1,838 samples from truck drivers were tested. And among them; 17 Ugandans, 14 Kenyans, 5 Tanzanians, 2 Burundians, 4 Eritreans and one other whose nationality is unknown, tested positive.  They arrived via Mutukula, Malaba and Elegu borders. The total number of truck drivers who have so far tested positive for Covid-19 in Uganda is 143.

Samples tested from the community all tested negative.
