Seven Front-line Health Workers in Uganda Test Positive for Covid19

A total of seven frontline health workers have tested positive for Covid19, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday

The confirmed cases include 3 nurses, 2 doctors and two senior-level staff. The Ministry says all the patients have been admitted at Entebbe Grade B hospital and Mulago National Specialised Hospital.

“A team of experts specialised in infection, Prevention and Control (IPC), Case management and Psychological management are currently in the various places where health workers tested positive to evaluate the response and evaluate the response and investigate what could have led to the unfortunate infection of health workers.”

Health workers are tested routinely based on high chances of exposure.

The total number of confirmed cases in Uganda is now 417.

“Currently, there are 287 admitted COVID-19 cases in the 15 Referral Hospitals in the country. All are in stable condition,” reads a statement by the Ministry.

72 people have recovered from the disease.
