18 Year Old Killed For Refusing to Carry Out Abortion


Police in Fort Portal municipality is investigating circumstances under which an expectant mother was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend after refusing to carry out an abortion.

The Police has identified the deceased as Brendah Atuhaire, 18.

Brenda’s body was on Friday, May, 29 found in the house lying helplessly in a pool of blood with a knife next to her.

Preliminary reports from residents of Bukwali village, incident that the couple had always engaged in several fights as a result of misunderstandings since the virus-induced lockdown was announced by the president.

The neighbors also reveal that their misunderstandings had always resulted from the man’s failure to provide basic needs for his family.

Mr Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police spokesperson told journalists that the suspect was found trying to commit suicide. Police stopped him and incessantly took him to Fort Portal regional referral hospital where he is currently receiving media attention.

“I appeal to the members of the community not to use excessive force while solving marital problems. Instead, they need to report to the village chairperson and police to solve their misunderstandings. The suspect after getting treatment will be taken to court and charged accordingly,” Mr Twesige said
