NRM Postpones Planned Launch of Election Roadmap

Members of the National Resistance Movement who sit on Central Executive Committee are set to hold another meeting this week to agree on modalities for conducting primary elections.

The committee sat on Sunday and was chaired by the party President H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The meeting, however, failed to come to an agreement on how to go about the primaries ahead of the 2021 elections.

Party leaders are split on whether to lineup behind candidates or adopt a new method of selection like the secret ballot.

The NRM constitution requires votes to line up behind candidates which some leaders say will cause divisions within the party. And that lineup is not ideal during a pandemic.

It is such arguments that led to the launch of the party road map.
