Police Speaks Out on Shooting, Standoff with Subaru Drivers

The police has spoken out on the video doing rounds in which a police officer is seen firing bullets at a car, and wrestling with civilians.

According to police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the incident happened at Buloba Traffic Check point on Sunday circa 5pm

Enanga says their traffic enforcement team intercepted a numberless Toyota Mark X after it failed to stop at Bujjuko check point when it was involved in a minor accident with a commuter taxi number UBA 681T.

The driver for the Mark X, however, failed to stop at Bujuko. The officers alerted their clleges at Buloba who then flagged him to stop. And shortly after he stopped, a group of Subaru racers arrived at the checkpoint.

According to Enanga, they caused a lot of fracas in a bid to rescue the Mark X driver.

“The group of Subaru racers became aggressive towards officers who were attending to the incident at Bujjuko.”

One of the Subaru drivers number UBD 026is said to have jumped out of his vehicle and started inciting others and attempted to grab a gun from a one PC Tonny Ogwang who was guarding the traffic enforcement team.

“It’s fortunate that no death was registered but one of our officers identified as Samuel Mutingirehe was injured by fragments in the stomach,” said Enanga

The Toyota Mark X driver managed to make-off but the Subaru Forester is parked at police.
