My TECNO Camon 16 Premier Unboxing and First Impressions

Premium Mobile Phone manufacturer TECNO mobile in close collaboration with MTN Uganda recently launched the TECNO Camon 16 Premier to the Ugandan market.

As part of the partnership, the device came with free 3GB internet every month for three months. In addition to this, customers also got 100% bonus on all bundles they activated for 90 days on the MTN SIM used in the Camon 16 they purchased.

As has been the norm, I acquired the Tecno Camon 16 premier for my experience and review and for the next few days, I will be using the device to dissect it and give you a snipet of what to expect if you have already been wooed by the vibe online.

For purposes of this article, I will be performing a quick unboxing to alert you about the superficial features of the Camon 16 premier which I must say should not be confused with the the Vanilla Camon 16 Pro.

Unboxing

When you open the box, you are greeted with an envelope that houses the warranty card and a clear TPU case that has a Manchester City logo. Manchester City are the English Premier League partners of TECNO Mobile and we have seen many of their players on TECNO branding previously.

The TPU case has two flaps on the bottom, one covering the headphone jack and the other covering the USB port. It has the necessary cutouts on the sides and definitely provides protection for the camera.

Below the envelope, you have the device wrapped in a plastic cover with a sticker on the back.

I got the glacier silver color and according to the TECNO website, this might be the only color we are getting for now.

In the bottom compartment, we have a heavy 33 watt fast charger, a USB type C cable, a sim ejection tool; located in a rather unusual part packaging and a pair of earphones.

On the device, there is an already available screen protector but it can be invisible. I recommend you take it off and use the glass one instead because it will give an extra layer of protection for your screen.

On the front of the phone, you have a 6.9 inch full HD+ IPS LCD display witha 19.5 by 9 aspect ratio.

On the top left of the front screen, you have a punch hole notch that houses a 48MP duo camera setup with no flash.

On the back, you have a 64MP quad camera setup with five flash lights and some TECNO branding towards the bottom.

On the left, you have a 3in1 tray that houses two 4G nano simcards and an SD card which can be used to expand your phone memory.

On the right, you have a volume rocker and a power button which doubles up as your finger print sensor.

On the top, you have nothing while on the bottom, you have a speaker, a USB type C port, a microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Phone Design

If you have an eye for beauty, you will definitely love the design of the TECNO Camon 16 Premier.

The glacier silver color is so beautiful; and looks icy blue under every form of lighting. I can’t get enough of this color.

I must reiterate, TECNO, this time tried to get as premium as possible and with the Camon 16 premier, you will see value for your money before you even start to use the device.

The paint job on the phone was on point and it gives an impression of aluminum and glass cocktail although the back and the frame are all made of plastic.

The Camon 16 Premier’s square camera bump in the middle of the back is new with TECNO and may remind you of something you have seen in the RedMi note series or at least the circular bump in the latest Infinix Note series.

Generally, the Camon 16 Premier is a huge device and its weight is leaning towards the heavy side especially when you have the TPU case on.

I highly recommend you keep the case on because it will add to the beauty and provide a shock absorber in the event that your device falls down.

On the front, you have what TECNO calls a duo dot display and its bezels are really very reduced to give the user ample space to experience the device.

Being almost 7 inches, the device can be inconvenient to use on one hand but I am sure that has been taken care of with the one hand feature which I will tell you about in my full review.

If you have seen the Camon 16 Premier in ads, it looks exactly as advertised.

The device is already available in all TECNO branded shops.
